BROOKSVILLE
Old South Charm
Brooksville Is the only incorporated city in Hernando County and serves as the County Seat. It is considered the northern gateway to Tampa Bay. It has maintained the charm of the "old South" while sustaining rapid growth as a very desirable residential and business center. It is located located approximately 25 miles north of Land O' Lakes and 40 miles north of Tampa. It is an easy commute to the Tampa Bay area by way of US Highway #41, the Suncoast Parkway, or Interstate 75.
The Brooksville area is comprised of gently rolling hills that range in elevation from 175 to 275 feet above sea level. Cypress ponds, hardwood hammocks, rolling hills, pasture land and pine forest make the area naturally diverse and beautiful. The beauty of the area, coupled with easy access to the Greater Tampa Bay Area, has made Brooksville a magnet for both retirees and Tampa Bay Area commuters. Brooksville is about 15 miles from the Gulf beaches and Florida's Nature Coast.
The Brooksville area has a temperate climate, however because of its higher elevation and more northern location it is a bit cooler in the wintertime than most of the Tampa Bay Area. Wintertime temperatures range from the low 70's in the day to mid 30's and 40's at night. Summer temperatures range from the low 90's during the day to low 70's at night.
The Brooksville area has an abundance of housing, from retirement/over 55 communities, golf course communities and family neighborhoods to agricultural land and horse farms.
